Welcome to the September TAC Update
Following its tabling in Parliament, the Training Accreditation Council’s 2025-2026 Annual Report is now available. Highlights during the reporting period include:
- Sector-wide transition to the new Registration Standards 2025.
- New templates, tools, policies and guides and updates the RTO/Auditor portals to support RTOs throughout the transition.
- A new TAC Regulation Strategy to drive quality outcomes and improvement.
- Expanded education, guidance and communication to support RTO compliance.
- Reporting, audit and application processes aligned to the 2025 Standards.
The Council acknowledges the significant efforts of RTOs throughout the year and their continued commitment to supporting learners and delivering high-quality training and assessment across Western Australia.
Rebecca Neumann is WA’s Trainer of the Year 2026
The TAC congratulates Community Services Lecturer Rebecca Neumann who was recognised as WA Trainer of the Year in this year’s prestigious WA Training Awards.
Rebecca’s work at North Regional TAFE focuses on fostering student success through inclusive teaching, industry collaboration and pathway creation, empowering learners to build skills, confidence and meaningful careers within their communities.
Based in Nickol, 1250 kilometres north-west of Perth, Rebecca demonstrated a strong commitment to culturally responsive, culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based education.
Sponsored by the Training Accreditation Council, the WA Trainer of the Year Award recognises innovation and excellence in the RTO sector with winners receiving $3000 in professional development training.
Skills and TAFE Minister Hon Amber-Jade Sanderson MLA congratulated award winners and finalists who were honoured during the gala ceremony held at the Perth Exhibition and Convention Centre on Thursday 10 September.
This year women dominated the training awards, taking out seven of the eight individual honours.
“I want women to be skilled up and ready to take on the quality, high-paying jobs, so it's fantastic to see so many women succeeding in traditionally male dominated industries,” Minister Sanderson said.

Annual Declaration on Compliance deadline extended
The Training Accreditation Council (TAC) will soon be distributing the 2025/2026 Annual Declaration on Compliance for RTOs (the Declaration) for completion.
As the sector continues to embed the 2025 Standards, the TAC has extended the due date for the 2025/2026 Declaration from 30 September to 1 November 2026. The extension provides RTOs with additional time to review compliance activities in advance of completing the Declaration.
The Annual Declaration is a mandatory requirement for all TAC-registered RTOs and must be submitted each year regardless of training activity delivered.
New deadline: 1 November 2026
Reporting period: 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026
The TAC will contact RTOs directly with further information and instructions.
