The Skills Academy is tailored specifically for the WA public sector context

More than 12,000 learners have logged into The Skills Academy since the first 12 courses were released on 30 March.

It’s a significant step for this new, one sector approach to learning and development, giving 40,000 learners access to high quality courses tailored to the WA public sector context.

More than 150 subject matter experts from across the sector are contributing content so courses in The Skills Academy are practical, relevant and aligned to the skills and capabilities needed for a high performing sector.

Courses are structured around adult learning principles and completed over several weeks, enabling learners to apply what they learn and embed new skills and behaviours into their everyday work.

And a digital passport captures achievements so skills and knowledge are recognised and retained as learners move around the sector.

The Skills Academy is expanding throughout 2026, with courses released to the sector to build a comprehensive suite of 120 courses.

A dedicated technology platform and service centre based in Perth support learners, managers and agencies to access learning and receive assistance as needed.

More information about The Skills Academy, including learning pathways and guidance for learners and managers, is at WA.gov.au/theskillsacademy. Learners can activate their account using the individual account link emailed to them.
