The WA Residential Battery Scheme allows you to access support to purchase and install a battery to power your home.

A rebate is available for Synergy and Horizon Power customers to help with the cost of purchasing and installing a battery.

A no-interest loan is also available to eligible applicants. Loans can be used for batteries and new or upgraded equipment such as inverters and solar panels, as long as they are installed with a battery.

Applications for the Scheme opened on 1 July 2025.

How much can I receive through the Scheme?

The WA Government’s scheme is in addition to the Federal Government’s Cheaper Homes Battery Program. On a 10kWh battery applicants are eligible for a combined rebate of:

  • $5,000 for Synergy customers

  • $7,500 for Horizon Power customers

For households with a total annual income of up to $210,000, you may also be eligible for a no-interest loan of up to $10,000.

Am I eligible for the WA Residential Battery Scheme?

Rebates for up to 100,000 eligible households are available.

To receive a battery rebate and/or a no-interest loan through the Scheme, you need to meet certain eligibility requirements, including participation in a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). A VPP connects and coordinates stored power generated by household batteries, solar panels and other energy resources.

When there’s a higher demand for electricity, people who have excess energy stored in their battery can sell it back and receive financial benefits.
