Public notice
National health authorities (enHealth) have confirmed that testing by an accredited Australian laboratory identified trace amounts of naturally occurring asbestos in a small number of these products sold in Australia.

Western Australia’s Chief Health Officer has advised that the laboratory results to date show no respirable fibres, meaning the risk to human health is very low.

Given the very low risk, the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation can confirm that any remaining coloured sand and associated cleaning waste such as gloves, masks and cloths should be double bagged and can then be disposed of in normal household rubbish bins.

The Department of Health is the lead agency for public health advice on this issue.
