A long-term visionary plan to transform Fremantle Port precinct into one of the world’s great waterfront cities has been endorsed by the Western Australian Government.
Consisting of 260 hectares of land and 10 kilometres of exceptional ocean and river frontage, the Fremantle | Walyalup port precinct has capacity to deliver 20,000 homes and 45,000 jobs for 55,000 new residents.
The Future of Fremantle Place and Economic Vision proposes a place that embodies the spirit of Fremantle | Walyalup – a resilient, adaptable, hard-working and welcoming city – while capturing the important cultural significance the area holds for Aboriginal people.
More than 1,000 ideas and comments from the community, business and government helped shape the plan.
The plan follows a $273million State Government commitment for detailed planning to move container trades the new Westport terminal in Kwinana by the late 2030s.
