Based on the latest health advice, Western Australia will introduce a hard border with South Australia from 12:01am, Friday 3 December 2021.

Under the medium risk category, travel from SA will not be permitted, unless you are an approved traveller.

Approved travellers include:

  • certain senior Government officials
  • certain active military personnel
  • a member of the Commonwealth Parliament
  • a person carrying out functions under a law of the Commonwealth
  • a person carrying out a limited range of specialist functions
  • a person given approval by the State Emergency Coordinator or an authorised officer

Any Western Australian who has recently travelled to South Australia is eligible to return under compassionate grounds and must apply through the G2G Pass system.

Approved travellers arriving to WA from 12:01am, Friday 3 December 2021 must:

  • provide proof of double dose vaccination against COVID-19 (if eligible);
  • provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test in the 72 hours prior to departure (if aged 12 years or older);
  • self-quarantine for 14 days in suitable premises;
  • present for a COVID-19 test within 48 hours and on day 12;
  • complete a G2G Pass declaration prior to arrival, stipulating they do not have any COVID-19 symptoms and which jurisdictions they have been in the previous 14 days.

The WA Chief Health Officer will continue to monitor and review border controls.

Recent travellers from South Australia should continue to familiarise themselves with the latest exposure sites reported by SA Health.

Anyone who has not been to these sites but develops any symptoms or is experiencing any symptoms, even mild, that could be related to COVID-19, is advised to get tested and quarantine until they return a negative test.

A list of testing clinics is available on the HealthyWA (external link) website.

The WA Chief Health Officer will continue to monitor and review border controls.
