A Geraldton marine finfish nursery has been built to support investment in the Midwest Aquaculture Zone and create significant regional employment opportunities.
The nursery is expected to create 20 immediate construction jobs and hundreds more jobs when it is operating at full capacity.
"We are excited at the opportunity to expand our operations into the Mid-West and the yellowtail kingfish (hiramasa) sashimi market. We welcome the WA Government's push to prioritise development of the Geraldton finfish nursery,” says Huon Aquaculture CEO Peter Bender.
Direct and indirect job opportunities will be generated for local businesses supplying raw materials, goods, services, trades, transport and, eventually, tourism.
