Western Australia has achieved an outstanding national milestone at the 2025 Australian Export Awards, with Premier Metal Recyclers named Australian Exporter of the Year, the highest exporting accolade in the country. Only three Western Australian companies have received this honour in the past 30 years, making this award particularly significant.
Premier Metal Recyclers also received the Sustainability and Green Economy Award, recognising the company’s leadership in transforming end-of-life metal into certified raw materials for steel mills, foundries and extrusion plants around the world.
Through the use of advanced shredding, shearing and testing technologies, Premier Metal Recyclers supplies sustainable, high-quality materials to key export markets including India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. The company’s clean-tech processes contribute to conserving natural resources, reducing carbon emissions, preventing landfill waste and strengthening global supply chains.

Western Australia recorded success in the Resources and Energy Award category, with Matrix Composites & Engineering recognised for its expertise in delivering advanced composite materials and engineered solutions to the global energy and defence sectors.
This award reflects Western Australia’s world-class manufacturing capability and its contribution to supplying advanced technologies to international markets.

Western Australian Export Awards 2026
The Western Australian Export Awards program provides a platform for businesses to showcase their export capability, build their profile and join a community of high-performing Australian exporters.
Winners of the Western Australian Export Awards progress to the Australian Export Awards where they compete for national titles.
Nearly half of the 2025 applicants were first-time entrants, demonstrating the diversity and competitiveness of the State’s exporting community.
Businesses exporting products or services internationally are encouraged to apply for the Western Australian Export Awards 2026 program. Applications will open mid-April 2026, more information to come.
