The Women in Executive Leadership Development Experience Initiative is a Public Sector Commission initiative designed to support the leadership development of women and the continuing pipeline of talent into the executive level of the public sector.
The initiative is part of a shared commitment to ensure talented women are skilled and ready to take on senior positions and to build the impact of leadership across the sector.
Kym Squires is the 2024-25 participant for the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and will lead a strategic body of work relevant to this executive level designed to further enhance her leadership skills.
She commenced as Director Strategic Projects on 1 July and will leverage the work she has been leading as the Program Director Organisational Design to operationalise the reform of recruitment and retention. This is both a Ministerial and department priority with the project scope endorsed by the Corporate Executive.
“I am excited by the opportunity to be this year’s participant for our department,” she said.
“The opportunity to be a part of our Corporate Executive and work with key stakeholders both internally and across the sector will assist me in developing skills and strategies that I can implement into this project.”
“I look forward to getting to also network with other like-minded public sector female leaders across Western Australia throughout the next 12 months,” she added.
Kym and Director General Alistair Jones attended the welcome event by the Public Sector Commission on Tuesday 30 July.
