Speeding shatters your excuses: road safety message amplified with CBD campaign
Road Safety Commission announcement: A tow-truck piled with smashed cars will be driving around the Perth CBD for one week to show drivers the dangers of speeding.
An eye-catching display of the consequences of speeding will make its way around Perth streets this week. The tow-truck piled with wrecked cars is part of the Road Safety Commission’s successful ‘Speeding Shatters Your Excuses’ campaign.
Speeding is the number one factor in the State’s road fatalities.
Add inattention, fatigue, drugs or alcohol and/or not wearing a seatbelt makes for a deadly combination which leads to devastating outcomes for the West Australian community every year.
First launched in September 2024, ‘Speeding Shatters Your Excuses’ challenges the common excuses people use to justify speeding and the tragic and all-too-frequent results of those decisions.
The initial launch of the campaign reached 60 per cent of WA drivers.
The most recent activation of the campaign includes metropolitan and regional TV commercials, broadcast on demand, radio and social media as well as new ‘out-of-home’ activity including roadside billboards, street-furniture, bus shelters, bus backs and LED mobile signs.
The tow-truck is a new and powerful additional designed to confront road users with real life examples of the consequences of speeding.
The campaign activation will run until September.
