COVID-19 coronavirus: SafeWA guide for businesses

Helpful information for businesses and venues to start using SafeWA.

Using the SafeWA app is easy

SafeWA is our free and convenient app for businesses to safely and securely record patrons' contact details.

Contact register information collected through SafeWA is stored securely for at least 28 days, unless required for contact tracing by WA Health.

This means you are not responsible for storing data obtained through SafeWA.

Setting up your business account on SafeWA

You can download SafeWA from:

2. Create an account

  • Tap the business icon.
  • Enter your information.
  • Create a password.
  • Enter the security PIN sent via SMS to verify your account.

Switching between individual and business accounts

If you have a SafeWA business account, you can use the same mobile number to register your individual account without logging out of the SafeWA app. This allows you to switch easily between individual and business accounts.

Your individual check-in information will not be linked to your business account.

  • Add your business address.
  • Set up your venue.

If required, you can set up other business venues. You can also set up multiple locations for each venue.

4. Print out your posters

A SafeWA pack with your QR code posters will be sent to your email account. Print the posters on plain white paper and display them in your business.

Information on best practices for maintaining contact registers is available to help you.

  • Businesses can edit or delete a venue or scan location by going into the settings, and selecting ‘Business, venue and location information’. From here, you can select ‘Venue’ or ‘Scan location’ to edit details.
  • Individuals can save the details of people they frequently check-in with, making it easier for families and groups of friends to check in.
  • Patrons can manually add other people they are with who do not have the SafeWA app, which is helpful for your business in maintaining a contact register
  • The previous check-in location can be viewed by going to the 'History' icon (which looks like a timer). The feature only stores the last check-in, and does not show an entire history. This can be used to see if a customer has checked in to your business or venue.
