Aboriginal Advisory Council WA - Charter and Terms of Reference

Charter and Terms of Reference for the Aboriginal Advisory Council WA
Last updated:

The Aboriginal Advisory Council (generally known as the Aboriginal Advisory Council of Western Australia or AACWA) was established under Section 18 (1) of the Aboriginal Affairs Planning Authority Act 1972 to advise the WA Government.

AACWA is considered to be an advisory and consultative board that provides independent or expert advice to the government on strategic matters or matters of board significance. AACWA is a statutory body that reports to the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.

Although there are guiding legislative rules for AACWA, since its reinvigoration in 2019, the Council has established its own Charter and Terms of Reference.
