As part of the call in process, submissions are invited from both the applicant (RUAH) and the respondent (the City of Perth).  Minister Sanderson may also have regard to any other submissions received.

Ministerial call in of review of approval conditions for Safe Night Space

Under the Planning and Development Act 2005 (the Act) if the Minister for Planning considers an application to the State Administrative Tribunal raises issues of State or regional importance, he may call in the application for determination.

On 15 March 2024, the Minister for Planning confirmed his decision to call in an application for review in relation to the RUAH Safe Night Space service at 247-249 James Street in Northbridge.

The application was approved by the City of Perth on 27 February 2024. 

The proposed temporary service is intended to operate for a period of 30 months, in addition to the existing Ruah Engagement Hub (Community Centre). No physical alterations are proposed as part of the development application.

The SAT application seeks review of the conditions of approval applied by the City of Perth.

The Minister for Planning has asked the Honourable Minister Sanderson to act for and on his behalf to consider and determine this review application.
