Property industry licensing fees

Fees for licensing of land valuers, real estate and business sales representatives (including property managers), real estate and business agents and settlement agents.

These fees are exclusive of GST. Acceptable payment methods are Credit Card (Visa/Mastercard) cash, cheque, money order or EFTPOS. Fees can change at short notice. Fees and charges are reviewed each year with changes routinely coming into effect on 1 July each year.

Land Valuers

Licence Fee Refunds

Refunds of licence fees are considered based on the circumstances and the requirements of the Real Estate and Business Agents Act 1978 and its Regulations.

  • Application fees and fees for granting or renewing licences or triennial certificates are usually not refunded.
  • A refund may be considered if an error is identified early (e.g., wrong licence type applied for).
  • The Commissioner may refund all or part of a fee in special circumstances.

Fidelity Account Contribution

  • This contribution protects people from financial loss caused by a licensee’s misconduct.
  • If your application for a licence or renewal is unsuccessful, the Fidelity Account contribution will be refunded.

Holding Fee Refunds

  • If you pay a holding fee and later renew your triennial certificate:
    • Two-thirds refunded if renewal is granted within 1 year.
    • One-third refunded if renewal is granted after 1 year but before 2 years.

Surrendering a Licence

  • If you voluntarily surrender your licence and triennial certificate, you can request a refund.
  • Refund is calculated based on one-third of the fee for each remaining year. i.e. one third of the fee will be repaid for each year remaining in the term of the licence and triennial certificate.

Cancelled Licence

  • No refund is issued if your licence or triennial certificate is cancelled by the State Administrative Tribunal or a court.

Settlement Agents

Application fees for real estate and business settlement agents.
