Breony Allen is a Senior Assistant State Solicitor at the State Solicitor’s Office, where she has worked since 2006. For almost two decades, she has worked across most areas of the Office and has been a trusted adviser to the State Government.

Ms Allen provides high‑level, independent legal advice on legislative reform projects and on a wide range of complex legal and policy issues of significance to the State. She has represented the State’s interests in royal commissions, commercial negotiations and drafting, and has appeared in, and co-ordinated, complex and politically sensitive litigation across various State courts.

Ms Allen holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford, as well as a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours from the University of Western Australia. She has taught Constitutional Law and Public International Law at the University of WA and has held research roles at the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics and King’s College London.

She was named WA Young Lawyer of the Year in 2011 for her contributions to the WA legal profession and served as a member of the WA Red Cross Board International Humanitarian Law Committee for almost nine years.
