Perth Casino Royal Commission

The Commission has been established to inquire into and report on the affairs of Crown Casino Perth. The Commission will examine the regulatory framework and any matters that might enhance the Gaming and Wagering Commission's future capability and effectiveness.

The Commission

On 5 March 2021, the Honourable Neville Owen (AO), the Honourable Lindy Jenkins and Mr Colin Murphy (PSM), were appointed Royal Commissioners to inquire into the suitability of Crown Perth to continue holding a casino gaming licence pursuant to the following Terms of Reference.  The Commissioners will also examine the State's regulatory framework, including any actual or perceived conflicts of interest by officers involved in casino regulation, and any matters that might enhance the Gaming and Wagering Commission's future capability and effectiveness.

The Commission will be known as the Perth Casino Royal Commission. It is expected to deliver its final report with findings and recommendations by 14 November, 2021.

Hearings

The Perth Casino Royal Commission will hold its next hearing on Friday, 25 June 2021, in Hearing Room 3, Level 18, 111 St Georges Tce, Perth.

No witnesses will be called at this hearing which has been scheduled to allow documents to be formally tendered to the Commission.  The Commissioners will also outline the program for the next phase of hearings which are expected to commence in July.

Hearings run from 10am – 1pm, and 2pm – 4pm. Most hearings will be held in Hearing Room 3 and are open to the public. When concurrent hearings are listed, Hearing Room 4 will also be used. Both rooms are on the 18th floor, 111 St Georges Tce, Perth. Public seating is strictly limited. Hearings are live streamed, with the link available on this website under Video and Transcripts.
