Perth Casino Royal Commission

The Commission has been established to inquire into and report on the affairs of Crown Casino Perth. The Commission will examine the regulatory framework and any matters that might enhance the Gaming and Wagering Commission's future capability and effectiveness.

The Commission

On 5 March 2021, the Honourable Neville Owen (AO), the Honourable Lindy Jenkins and Mr Colin Murphy (PSM), were appointed Royal Commissioners to inquire into the suitability of Crown Perth to continue holding a casino gaming licence pursuant to the following Terms of Reference.  The Commissioners will also examine the State's regulatory framework, including any actual or perceived conflicts of interest by officers involved in casino regulation, and any matters that might enhance the Gaming and Wagering Commission's future capability and effectiveness.

The Commission will be known as the Perth Casino Royal Commission. It is expected to deliver its final report with findings and recommendations by 14 November, 2021.

Hearings

Hearings are held in Hearing Room 3 on the 18th floor, 111 St Georges Terrace, Perth and are open to the public. Public seating is limited in the hearing room.

The next hearing, where applications for leave to appear will be heard, will be held on Tuesday, 20 April 2021, commencing at 10am.  This hearing will be live streamed, with the link available on this website under Video and Transcripts.

The Commission expects to commence substantive hearings in May. The Commission's forward public hearing schedule will be published in due course.
