The purposes and aim of the Avon River management programme are:
- to review the critical management issues associated with the management of the Avon River and it's tributaries
- to provide a blueprint for management of the Avon River for the next decade
- to clarify the priorities for action
- to involve the community in river management decisions
- to meet statutory objectives.
