Planning for the Dongara to Cape Burney Coastal Area is integrated into wider regional and local planning processes. Background and technical information that has been prepared previously has been incorporated into a package referred to as the 'Dongara to Cape Burney Coastal Study'.

The Study includes information that may assist strategic planning for this part of the coast. It comprises:

  • The Dongara to Cape Burney Visual Landscape Assessment, which aims to assess landscape features in order to develop landscape management objectives and design guidelines within the Dongara to Cape Burney area.
  • The Coast of the Shires of Coorow to Northampton, Mid West, Western Australia: Geology, Geomorphology and Vulnerability report, which includes a description of the geomorphology of the coast from Dongara to Cape Burney. This assists in identifying areas of relative instability including sections of the beach and dune system that are potentially subject to environmental change.
  • The Dongara to Cape Burney Flora and Vegetation Survey, which aims to provide a regional context of native vegetation in the Greater Geraldton region to allow informed planning decisions to be made.
