The Finance Capability Framework provides key skills and capabilities that are critical to the function and delivery of government services. The Framework complements the public sector capability profiles and comprises a:

  • Finance Capability Profile
  • Chief Financial Officer Success Profile.

 

Finance capability profile

The finance capability profile describes key competencies as behavioural indicators across six financial function capability areas.

These are:

  • financial and statutory accounting
  • financial systems
  • government financial policy
  • management accounting - budgeting government
  • management accounting - budgeting generic
  • taxation.

Chief financial officer (CFO) success profile

The CFO success profile outlines the expectations, accountabilities and suggested experience deemed necessary for an effective and successful CFO in the public sector. 

 

The success profile and guidelines for measuring can be used to assess the CFO's impact on the financial function and business outcomes.
