Applications for the Biomedical Industry Innovation Booster Grant (IBG) program are now close.
The Biomedical Industry IBG is a competitive Western Australian government grant exclusively for the biomedical industry sector. This round is funded through the $8.65 million Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Strategy Funding, which sits under the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI).
The Biomedical Industry IBG is a competitive funding grant, designed to provide WA-based startups and small businesses with the financial boost needed to access professional skills, services or knowledge, to advance their innovative idea, project or commercial activity in Western Australia.
Funding
Show moreA maximum of $40,000 grant per application is available. Recipients are required to provide a net cash co-contribution of at least 20:80 applicant to WA government funding.
For example, a project of $50,000 (total cost excluding GST) would involve the recipient providing at least $10,000 themselves to supplement the (maximum) $40,000 grant.
Applications will need to be submitted between 23 April 2025 - 5pm (AWST) 22 May 2025. Once the round closes, a panel of evaluators will meet to assess the applications. Successful recipients will be advised in June 2025.
For eligible, chosen recipients, funds will be made available for up to 12 months after the awarding of the grant, with 75% of the funding available immediately.
The remaining (25%) funds can be claimed at the end of the project, once all project work has been completed and a final acquittal report has been provided to, and approved by, JTSI.

Please Note: expenditure under Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property, and Commercialisation Support Services MUST involve the use of an external consultant (for example, an IP attorney).

Show moreThe Biomedical Industry IBG is open and will close at 5pm (AWST) on Thursday 22nd May 2025. After this submissions will then be assessed.
Submitted applications cannot be changed after this date.
