Conducted in the late 1990s, this investigation comprised drilling and monitoring of bores, and has established a comprehensive understanding of the hydrogeology and groundwater resources of the Collie Basin. It has been used to inform management of groundwater resources and the associated environment.
The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is currently undertaking a new investigation in the Collie Basin, targeting areas of interaction between aquifers and surface water where more detailed information is now required. Revised hydrogeological understandings will be based on literature review and analysis of drilling, testing and updated monitoring data.
