Meet Edith Cowan University - Driving Defence innovation in a rapidly evolving strategic landscape
Last updated:
As an accredited Defence Industry Security Program Member, ECU supports Defence and Defence Industry through programs in cyber security, engineering, science, and health sciences. Strong partnerships with Defence, industry, government, and global research leaders are creating a powerful ecosystem of innovation and capability.

ECU is playing a critical role in supporting Australia’s expanding shipbuilding and submarine programs. Its curriculum is evolving to meet the demands of nuclear readiness, autonomous systems, and multi-domain operations- preparing graduates to contribute across land, sea, air, and cyber missions.

Defence alignment at ECU goes beyond academics - it’s embedded in the university’s culture. With veterans employed in teaching and professional roles, ECU brings lived experience and deep sector insight to its work.
In 2026, ECU will open its City Campus - one of its most transformative moves yet. This bold new hub for technology, creativity and industry will bring together over 10,000 students and staff, energising Perth’s CBD and shaping the future of education, culture and innovation in Western Australia.
