Securing Western Australia’s water future in a drying climate
Last updated:

Made Possible by Water outlines the challenges facing Western Australia’s water systems and the actions required to secure a safe, reliable and climate-resilient water future.

The document provides an evidence-based overview of how declining rainfall, reduced streamflows and increasing demand from households, agriculture, mining and industry are placing growing pressure on traditional water sources.

It sets out how the State is responding through continued investment in climate-independent water supplies such as desalination, groundwater replenishment and water recycling, alongside improved water efficiency and infrastructure planning.

Developed collaboratively by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, Water Corporation, Aqwest - Bunbury Water and Busselton Water, Made Possible by Water presents a coordinated, long-term approach to managing water across Western Australia.

The document also highlights the importance of strong partnerships across government, industry, Aboriginal communities and local government to support sustainable water management and economic growth.
