In accordance with Section 14(c)(vi) of the Planning and Development Act 2005, Operational Policy 1.12 – Planning Proposals Adjoining Regional Roads in Western Australia was published on 28 July 2026, operational from 28 July 2026.

The policy aims to provide decision makers, proponents, and the community with a consistent policy approach to land use planning for proposals adjoining regional roads in Western Australia.

With Operational Policy 1.12 - Proposals adjoining regional roads coming into operation, the following planning instruments will be repealed:  

  • Development Control Policy 1.7 - General Road Planning (June 1998) and draft Development Control Policy 1.7 General Road Planning (January 2018)
  • Development Control Policy 5.1 – Regional Roads Vehicular Access (June 1998) and draft Development Control Policy 5.1 – Regional Roads Vehicular Access (January 2018)
  • Draft Operational Policy 1.12 Planning Proposals Adjoining Regional Roads in Western Australia (March 2023).
