Participants are required to complete 9 units made up of 4 core units and 5 electives to achieve the Certificate II in Government qualification.

Core units

PSPGEN144 Work in a public sector environment

This unit covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to work as a new public sector employee. It includes accessing and using legislation, guidelines and organisational information, working with a diverse range of people and investigating career options.

BSBCMM211 Apply communication skills

This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to communicate in the workplace. It includes identifying, gathering and conveying information, along with completing written communications.

PSPGEN088 Deliver a service to clients

This unit covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide service to internal and external clients within a timeframe. It includes matching and delivering necessary services to clients.

BSBWHS211 Contribute to health and safety of self and others
 
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to work in a healthy and safe manner. It covers work health and safety policies, procedures, instructions and requirements. It  includes operating safely in the work environment and participating in work health and safety consultative processes.

Elective units

The registered training organisation offers a number of elective units, however you will only complete 5. They will assist you in selecting the most suitable elective units when they work with you to develop your training plan. The following are examples of elective units which the trainees can complete as part of the Certificate II in Government.

PSPGEN129 Access and use resources

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use resources to achieve work objectives. It includes accessing and using resources and administering physical resource usage.

PSPGEN138 Organise workplace information

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to organise information in the workplace.

BSBOPS202 Engage with customers

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to participate effectively in customer engagement, including complying with organisational requirements and using a variety of communication methods.

BSBPEF202 Plan and apply time management

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to implement time management processes to organise and complete work tasks. It also addresses skills and knowledge to seek and review feedback for performance improvement regarding time management and use of technology appropriate to the task.

BSBTEC201 Use business software applications

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to select and use software and organise electronic information and data. It includes selecting and using technology, inputting and processing information and data, and finalising and storing documents. 

BSBWRT311 Write simple documents

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to plan, draft and finalise simple documents. 

PSPGEN137 Handle workplace information

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to handle incoming and outgoing workplace information. It includes collecting, analysing and processing workplace information.
