Southern River integrated land and water management plan: A process evaluation

Guidance
Evaluation of the process used in preparing the plan, and lessons and recommendations for future urban developments in water sensitive areas on the Swan Coastal Plain.
Last updated:

The Southern River Interim Integrated Land and Water Management Plan (ILWMP) is one of Western Australia’s first attempts to integrate drainage water management planning and urban land development.

Located in the South-East Land Corridor, the Southern River, Forrestdale, Wungong and Brookdale area is in transition from rural to urban but is constrained by water resource issues including a high water table, wetlands, and a legacy of nutrient enrichment due to agricultural activities.

The department retained Beckwith Environmental Planning Pty Ltd to evaluate the process used in preparing the ILWMP and identify lessons and recommendations for future urban developments in water sensitive areas on the Swan Coastal Plain.
