The focus of the Western Australian Enterprise Architecture Framework (WEAF) is to provide agencies with the capability to identify and explore opportunities related to whole of government initiatives and inter-agency collaborations. It aims to reduce duplication and complexity while leveraging the capabilities and resources of the entire sector.
The WEAF leverages the Australian Government Architecture (AGA) reference models. WA.gov.au uses the Business Reference Model (BRM) within this AGA framework to categorise its content.
In the past, government services have typically been organised online under the umbrella of the agency which provides them. The BRM provides a structure to create a functional (as opposed to organisational) view of the different services. In practice, this means WA.gov.au can organise and present content to users by function (as shown in Figure 3), rather than by the agency. This provides real benefits to public users who are looking for services and information, and who typically do not know or care which agency they need to interact with.
Information for content authors
Content authors should review the attached documents to help them choose an appropriate category for their content. Remember, content should only be tagged to a sub category, not a parent category from the AGA BRM.
