Last updated:

The Western Australian (WA) Government will establish a $153.3 million Made in WA Energy Affordability Investment Program (Program) to develop the manufacturing sector, enabling investment in energy efficient infrastructure and technologies and advanced manufacturing equipment and techniques, strengthening WA’s manufacturing capability and competitiveness.

Through this competitive program, manufacturers will be able to access low interest loans of up to $15 million under two Application Streams: Energy Efficiency and Advanced Manufacturing. The loans will support development of key manufacturing sectors driving growth, improving productivity, and developing manufacturing scale and resilience in a rapidly evolving global market.

The Made in WA Energy Affordability Investment Program aligns with the WA Government’s commitment to developing the State's manufacturing sector to make more things locally, diversify the economy and deliver on WA’s clean energy future.

Since 2025, more than $1.4 billion has been committed to initiatives aimed at developing and scaling manufacturing capability and capacity in WA.

Program Objectives

To develop Western Australia’s manufacturing sector by:

  • Improving energy cost competitiveness through more efficient energy use;
  • Increasing investment in, and adoption of, energy efficiency and advanced manufacturing technology;
  • Supporting manufacturers to move up the value chain; and
  • Increasing productivity through more efficient and advanced manufacturing processes.

Please note that the above Program Objectives are subject to change post consultation and may vary from the final Program guidelines.

Survey Purpose

To ensure the Program reflects current industry needs and priorities, we are seeking your input to help shape the final design of the Program. You will be asked to complete a series of questions regarding a proposed project that you may seek funding for under the Made in WA Energy Affordability Investment Program. This survey is an exercise to understand the market and is not an application process.

The survey is broken into four (4) sections:

  1. Business Overview
  2. Project Overview
  3. Project Cost and Financial Information
  4. Energy Profile

This survey has been developed by the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification (DEED) to gather targeted insights from manufacturers and inform the design and delivery of the Program. The data collected in this survey will be deidentified. It may be shared with other areas of the Western Australian Government to inform the final design of this program and support other relevant government initiatives.

The survey is open until 5pm AWST, Friday 3 July 2026.
