The STEM Educator of the Year (Schools) award recognises a teacher or educator who demonstrates excellence in a field of STEM education in schools and who has made outstanding contributions to enhancing student engagement in STEM. This includes primary, secondary, and/or vocational education in a school setting.
Now in its 25th year, the Premier's Science Awards recognises and celebrates the outstanding scientific research and engagement taking place in Western Australia.

In 2026, three finalists have been selected for the inaugural STEM Educator of the Year (Schools) category:
Rebecca Knight
Burrendah Primary School
Rebecca Knight is a Primary Science Specialist at Burrendah Primary School. She is driven to make science meaningful, hands-on and accessible for every student. Through engaging investigations and real-world STEM programs, she builds curiosity, confidence and a genuine love of learning. Her work empowers students to think like scientists, solve problems and see themselves in future STEM pathways, ensuring every learner feels capable, included and inspired.
Dr Roslyn London
Balga Senior High School
Dr Roslyn London, Teacher-in-Charge of STEM at Balga Senior High School, advocates that STEM skills are life skills essential for a modern world. By explicitly teaching foundational concepts and facilitating real-world problem-solving through competitive challenges, Dr London empowers students to master complex technical and enterprise skills. She strategically builds industry partnerships to expand student opportunities and expose them to diverse career pathways. Drawing on her own background of disrupted education and English as an additional language or dialect, Dr London authentically connects with her students, fostering an inclusive culture that inspires, supports, and empowers them toward lifelong learning and success.
Timothy Rowberry
John Curtin College of the Arts
Tim Rowberry is a senior Western Australian STEM educator and Director of Technologies at John Curtin College of the Arts, with statewide impact across space science, health science, and regional STEM education. He is Co-founder of STEM4Innovation and a retired Army Captain (engineers), bringing systems engineering leadership into education. Tim leads authentic, industry connected STEM programs including BinarX (space science), Habithack (health science), and the Regional 2 Way STEM Initiative, connecting metropolitan, regional, and Aboriginal students with real world innovation. His work has delivered measurable outcomes, including a 22 school STEM COVID response, major hospital and university partnerships, and scalable teacher capability development across WA.
