Review of Western Australian Jobs Act 2017

An independent review to improve the effectiveness of the WA Jobs Act of 2017
Last updated:

Western Australia is in an era of changing trends and developments. The local, national and global economy has also changed since the WA Jobs Act (2017) was introduced. An independent review of the Act will identify opportunities to improve its effectiveness.

The Act is designed to encourage businesses bidding for WA Government contracts to ensure the creation of as many local jobs, apprenticeships as possible as well as ensuring local small businesses can participate as suppliers or sub-contractors.

The Act applies to all WA Government departments and agencies, including government trading entities (GTEs). It is relevant to all forms of procurement including goods, services, housing, works and community services. It does not apply to universities or local government procurement.
