The Government of Western Australia spends around $27 billion each year, most of which is on procuring goods, services and works for the benefit of the community. Western Australians expect every taxpayer dollar to be spent wisely, and to contribute to broader economic, social and environmental outcomes.

Fraud and corruption and other poor business practice cost money, it jeopardises public health and safety, diverts money from public sector operations and projects, reduces innovation, inhibits genuine competition and reduces confidence in public administration.

Finance sets procurement policies for State Agencies and has a role in helping agencies to identify fraud in procurement.
