A free event for Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations involved in or planning to provide housing and/or tenancy services in WA
Last updated:

On 2–3 December 2025, the Department of Housing and Works and the Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia hosted the 2025 Aboriginal Housing Conference WA: Organisational Capacity Building and Development (Conference).

Building on the momentum of the 2023 Sector Strengthening Summit, this Conference focused on capacity building, strengthening our collective ability to deliver culturally safe, community-led housing.

More than 45 representatives from Aboriginal organisations across WA attended the free, two-day Conference, with funding assistance made available to support the participation of eligible regional and remote organisations.

The event aimed to further strengthen the capability of Aboriginal Community Controlled Housing Organisations (ACCHOs) through knowledge sharing, networking and practical skills development. Highlights included:

  • a co-design workshop to inform the development of an Aboriginal Outcomes Framework for WA under the National Agreement on Social Housing and Homelessness
  • industry updates from Shelter WA and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Association (NATSIHA)
  • governance training, with sessions on organisational finance, legal obligations and conflict management
  • sessions focused on the community housing registration process, with a Q&A panel featuring leaders from WA’s three registered Aboriginal community housing providers.

We thank all who participated for their engagement and valuable contributions.
