The Department of Finance (Finance) collects personal information from surveys for the purpose of:
- improving the experience of our customers,
- improving customer services, and
- reporting on the performance of Finance.
All survey responses are anonymous by default with an opt-in provision for those that require follow-up on individual issues or complaints. We will analyse the survey responses and commentary provided by customers and aggregate them. The aggregated output will be used in reporting, both internally and externally. Aggregated output and commentary will also be analysed for trends and ways to improve services. These insights are passed to the relevant internal areas to help with implementation service improvements.
The information collected from you may include:
- IP addresses*
- Online activity*
- Your service usage
- Your personal commentary
- Your department (if applicable)
*IP addresses and online activity are automatically collected by our online survey service provider (Qualtrics). Qualtrics collects IP addresses to prevent and protect against fraud and malicious activity and for their own security. IP addresses and online activity will not be stored by Finance because we opt to collect the responses anonymously.
Finance uses external survey platforms and external providers to outsource phone data collection. Data is collected by third parties in accordance with their own privacy and collection policies and any legislation that they must adhere to. Finance currently use Qualtrics as a survey platform provider. Qualtrics are bound to the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.
