Throughout October 2023 the team travelled 12,000km, visiting all regions in WA to consult on the development of the 10 Year Science and Technology Plan.

Conducting 11 workshops and 16 site visits, the team spoke with over 500 people across a wide variety of sectors and industries, listening to their views on the current state of the science and technology landscape in WA.

Learning opportunities for the team included:

  • Visiting the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development's world leading apple breeding facilities in Donnybrook
  • Talking with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation about the vast data collections being built about local waterways
  • Visiting the Pilbara Kimberley University Centre to observe how tertiary students are being supported in the region

The information gathered provided insight to determining the themes and priorities that should be captured in The Plan’s vision.

A sincere thank you to everyone who participated in Phase 1 of consultation.
