Regional geophysics surveys and data

Information about geophysical surveys and data from across Western Australia. Including regional airborne magnetic, radiometric, and electromagnetic surveys, ground gravity surveys, deep crustal reflection seismic, passive seismic, and magnetotelluric (MT) surveys.
Last updated:

In Western Australia, the State and Federal governments have collected a lot of regional geophysical survey data. This includes airborne magnetic, radiometric, electromagnetic surveys, ground and airborne gravity surveys, as well as deep reflection seismic, passive seismic, and magnetotelluric (MT) surveys.

We combine data from both government and non-confidential company airborne surveys to create statewide grids and images for magnetic, radiometric and gravity data. These compilation products are updated when new survey data becomes available.

Deep crustal reflection seismic surveys

Deep crustal reflection seismic surveys

Bouncing sound waves deep underground, revealing crustal layers and faults.
Magnetotelluric (MT) surveys

Magnetotelluric (MT) surveys

Measuring natural electromagnetic fields to map underground resistivity variations.
Passive seismic surveys

Passive seismic surveys

Listening to Earth's background vibrations to study deep crust structures.
Regional airborne electromagnetic (AEM) data

Regional airborne electromagnetic (AEM) data

Using airborne EM pulses to detect conductive features underground quickly.
Regional airborne magnetic surveys

Regional airborne magnetic surveys

Mapping variations in Earth’s magnetic field to reveal buried structures.
Regional airborne radiometric data

Regional airborne radiometric data

Detecting natural gamma radiation to map surface rock compositions.
Reflectance data

Reflectance data

Analysing surface light reflections to identify rock and mineral types.
Regional gravity data

Regional gravity data

Measures gravity changes to infer subsurface density and structure.
