The Review is exploring ways to simplify and modernise the R-Codes, making them easier to understand and apply. Current status
Proposed changes to the R-Codes are continuing to be refined through engagement with stakeholders across local government, industry, planning, architecture and the property development sectors.
Next steps
Once the Review is complete, proposed changes to the R-Codes will be considered by the Western Australian Planning Commission and Minister before being released for public consultation.
Public consultation is expected to commence in late 2026 and will provide local governments, industry stakeholders, community organisations and members of the public with an opportunity to review the proposed changes and provide feedback.
