Swan Valley Planning

The Swan Valley is valued for its considerable attributes that give it State-wide significance. Competing and unique land-use challenges mean that the State Government plays a direct role in the planning for this region.

A new planning framework for the Swan Valley is now in place to protect the distinctive rural character of the region while enabling appropriate development. Enabled by the Swan Valley Planning Act 2020, the Swan Valley Planning Scheme guides future development and new tourism and hospitality opportunities, and protects long-term agricultural production in the region. In accordance with the Scheme, the Western Australian Planning Commission’s Swan Valley Statutory Planning Committee determines development applications, subdivision and structure plans.
