About PeopleWA
PeopleWA is the WA Government’s linked data asset, which contains de-identified linked data from WA Government agencies. Researchers, not-for-profit organisations, including Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations, and government agencies can apply for access to PeopleWA data via the online application system. Access and analytics of PeopleWA data is facilitated through a highly secure e-research environment.
PeopleWA enables evidence-based medical research, targeted and strategic investment decisions, and improved service delivery. It provides WA Government agencies, researchers and not-for-profit organisations with access to comprehensive datasets to inform evidence-based approaches to address the most complex social, health, environmental and economic issues facing the state.
The Office of Digital Government (DGov) within the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) administers PeopleWA. DGov receives, integrates and hosts de-identified linked data provided by data custodians; processes applications for access to PeopleWA data; and facilitates data access for approved users via a highly secure e-research platform.
PeopleWA has been developed and implemented through extensive consultation with key stakeholders including WA Government agencies, the research sector and community services organisations.
