The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) and KPMG Australia have agreed that KPMG entities will not tender for any new tenders or quotes issued by Western Australian State Entities bound by the Procurement Act 2020 from 16 June 2026 until at least 30 September 2026 (the ‘agreement’). This agreement also applies to:
- tenders which include KPMG being appointed as a subcontractor to a third party; and
- quotes by all KPMG entities appointed to the following Common Use Arrangements (CUAs):
- Audit and Financial Advisory Services CUAAFA2024
- Information and Communications Technology Services CUAICTS2021.
This mutual agreement to cease new tendering does not apply to proposals submitted by KPMG prior to the date of the mutual agreement to pause (16 June 2026) and does not affect existing contracts with KPMG.
For existing tender processes or contracts with KPMG entities, DTF requests agencies to carefully assess potential reputational risks against operational requirements before awarding or extending contracts when considering new awards, or the exercise of extension options.
DTF continues to actively monitor developments and engage with other jurisdictions to support the State’s response on this matter.
DTF will update State agencies on the status of the agreement prior to its expiry and will promptly advise if any further actions are requested of State agencies or if any new material information becomes available.
Please contact Procurement Advice or the CUA contract managers on CUAICTS2021@dtf.wa.gov.au or CUAAFA2024@dtf.wa.gov.au for CUA-related queries.
Note
In response to the allegations of KPMG’s misuse of client data and integrity breaches, the Australian Government Department of Finance has commissioned an independent review into KPMG’s governance, culture, ethics and integrity frameworks.
