In 2019, in conjunction with Information Access Commissioners from NSW, Victoria, Queensland, the Commonwealth of Australia and the ACT Ombudsman, the WA Information Commissioner sponsored an information access study as part of Australia’s Open Government National Action Plan 2018–2020. 

Western Australia has participated in studies every two years. The studies are coordinated by the Information and Privacy Commissioner of New South Wales and conducted by Woolcott Research and Engagement.
