Alcohol-related harm is a long-standing, complex issue with no easy fix. The Banned Drinkers Register (BDR) is one of several measures to protect Western Australians from alcohol-related harm.

There are health and support services available to people who want to manage their alcohol consumption including public and not-for-profit services.

Individuals can also apply to the Director of Liquor Licensing for a Banned Drinker Order (BDO) to help them make a positive change regarding their alcohol consumption.

Voluntary applications require a person to provide their name, image of their photo ID (for example driver's licence), date of birth, address and contact phone number and period of time they would like the BDO to have effect to the department by emailing BDR@lgirs.wa.gov.au

The Director determines whether the BDO will be made, and if so, whether the BDO will be in force for a period of 3, 6,12 months or indefinitely.

Applications can be made to remove the BDO by emailing BDR@lgirs.wa.gov.au
