The WA Government has announced plans to deliver a digital driver licence in a new ServiceWA digital wallet. This supports the delivery of secure, easy-to-use digital services designed around people.
ServiceWA digital wallet
The ServiceWA digital wallet will make it easier to access government services, present credentials digitally and share only the information required for each transaction.
It will support stronger security and privacy settings and enable higher‑assurance transactions that require stronger identity checks, such as a working with children check.
Digital driver licence
A digital driver licence is a digital version of your physical driver licence that you can access from the ServiceWA digital wallet. That way you'll always have it when you carry your phone.
The digital driver licence offers a secure and convenient way to carry and use your licence through the ServiceWA digital wallet. You won’t need to carry a physical card or worry about losing it, your licence will be available when you need it, all in one place.
It helps make everyday tasks easier by reducing paperwork, such as filling in forms or providing photocopies for identification. You’ll also have greater control over your personal information by choosing to share only what’s needed for a specific situation, like proving your age.
By making it simpler to verify your identity across services, the digital driver licence saves time and reduces the need to visit service centres.
Using a digital driver licence is optional. You can continue using your physical driver licence if you prefer.
