Aim of the Summit

The Mining Industry Summit 2026: Building Respect brought together leaders from across the Western Australian mining industry to build meaningful change in workplace culture.

The inaugural Mining Industry Summit in 2023 sparked critical conversations and elevated awareness of psychosocial safety across the sector. As the industry’s understanding of psychosocial risks has matured, the focus shifted from awareness to action. The 2026 Summit centred on embedding lasting change through practical insights and real-world perspectives on creating safe, inclusive and high-performing workplaces.

About the Summit

Led by Summit host Holly Ransom, the 2026 program featured speakers, interviews and panel discussions from respected experts across government, industry and academia. Keynote speakers included former Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins AO, and ARC Laureate Fellow, John Curtin Distinguished Professor Sharon Parker.

Funded by the Government of Western Australia through its Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Program, this free event brought together leaders from across the WA mining sector to help drive and influence lasting cultural change. Attendees included board members, site senior executives, operational/HSE/HR leaders, health and safety representatives and frontline workers.

The Summit was more than a conference – it was a collective commitment to shaping a stronger, more sustainable mining industry.

Thank you to everyone who attended. Photos and event recordings will be published soon.
