The Heritage Council of Western Australia is seeking four new members for appointment in 2027

The Heritage Council of Western Australia is the State’s expert body on matters concerning places of cultural heritage significance. The Minister for Heritage, Hon Simone McGurk MLA, invites nominations from suitably experienced and qualified individuals interested in becoming a member of the Heritage Council. A number of positions will be filled from this process.

Nominees will have demonstrated knowledge of, or experience in, heritage matters and one or more of the fields outlined in section 14 of the Heritage Act 2018 and in the Heritage Regulations 2019. In particular, nominations are sought from applicants with experience in any of the following:

  • landscape architecture;
  • engineering;
  • archaeology; and
  • horticulture.

Applicants should be prepared to make a substantial commitment in terms of time and expertise to help identify, conserve and ensure the sensitive development of the State’s heritage places.

Appointments may be made for a term of up to five years.

The State Government is committed to working toward gender parity across all government boards and committees.

All submissions will be considered. Nominations close at 5:00pm on 11 September 2026
