Parents have a lot to juggle when it comes to pulling a party together for their child. The latest the “Have you checked?” campaign highlights the importance of parents asking to sight the Working with Children (WWC) Card of a self-employed children’s party entertainer.

The campaign also encourages parents to validate the Card details online. Sighting and validating a party entertainer’s WWC Card can give parents the confidence to know that the children’s party entertainer is able to engage in child-related work.

To complement the campaign, the Unit is holding two online information sessions:

  • ‘Have you checked’ for parents and guardians – Wednesday 11 June at 12:30pm and
  • Ready, Check, Go! for party providers – Tuesday 24 June at 11:30am

The parents and guardians session will outline what the WWC Check is, how to know when it is required and what obligations parents have if they are hiring someone to engage in child-related work, like a child’s party entertainer.

The Ready, Check Go! session for party providers will focus on their WWC obligations as an organisation or sole trader.

A new parent’s page on the WWC website has been developed as a one stop shop for parents to be able to access relevant information about the WWC Check and what their obligations are when engaging a person in child-related work.
