Children’s Week WA 2026, Western Australia's annual celebration of children, their rights and contributions will officially begin on Saturday 24 October, and will feature an official community event in Ballajura.

Hosted by Meerilinga Children and Community Services, the free twilight event will bring together children, families and community organisations for an afternoon of free entertainment, interactive activities and opportunities to connect with local services.

Children's Week WA 2026 runs from 24 October to 1 November and celebrates the achievements, participation and wellbeing of children and young people across the State.

The Department of Communities is proud to support the Children's Week WA Community Grants Program, which helps community organisations create activities that strengthen community connections, celebrate diversity and promote the rights and wellbeing of children and young people throughout Western Australia.

Families, educators, service providers and community groups are encouraged to explore the Children's Week WA program and discover local events, resources and opportunities to get involved.

Children's Week is a national celebration that promotes awareness of children's rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and encourages communities to recognise the important role children play in society.

This year's Children's Week also highlights the importance of creating safer environments for children and young people. As part of the WA Government's commitment to child safety, the Department of Communities has launched a social media campaign designed to increase awareness of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

The campaign aims to help families, parents, carers, children and young people understand what to expect from organisations that work with children and what questions they can ask to help ensure their safety. The resources direct the community to the Child Safe Organisations Knowledge Hub, where practical information and guidance are available.

During Children's Week, Western Australians are encouraged to support safer organisations by sharing the campaign and resources through their networks, helping to build a stronger culture of child safety across the community.

Further information about the Ballajura community event, other activities across WA, and a range of Children’s Week reources are available on the Children's Week WA website.
