This is the 33rd commemoration of this day; this year focussing on the theme of ‘Fulfilling the promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations.’

It is an important day for everyone to focus on ensuring the human rights of older people are protected and to address the ongoing challenges of ageism and discrimination.

The State Government is committed to implementing initiatives that support older people in ageing safely with dignity and respect.
