East Victoria Park education and care provider penalised for inadequate supervision of a child

The State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) has sanctioned the approved provider of Nido Early School East Victoria Park for the inadequate supervision of a child.

The approved provider Nest Early Education Services Pty Ltd which operates the service was ordered to pay a penalty of $22,000 for contravening section 165(1) of the Education and Care Services National Law (WA) Act 2012 for the offence of inadequate supervision of a child.

A Department of Communities investigation found:

  • That a child was left unsupervised
  • The provider had failed to ensure adequate headcount procedures occurred

Nest Early Education Services Pty Ltd was also ordered to pay $2,500 towards the Department of Communities’ legal costs.
