Established in 2020, WACSAR provides a cross-agency, evidence-based approach to criminal justice decision making and policy development.
The Advisory Board has two levels of membership:
- an Executive Committee consisting of ex-officio members, including the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, the Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Director of the Australian Institute of Criminology, and the Director General of the Department of Justice (as Chair); and
- the full Advisory Board, which will include three representatives from the Western Australian university sector.
The role of Board members will include:
- Making recommendations regarding WACSAR’s strategic research and evaluation priorities.
- Providing advice and contributing to the development and implementation of best practice research and evaluation strategies and methodologies.
- Monitoring academic collaborations and partnerships.
- Promoting excellence and innovation in criminal justice related research and evaluation; and
- Fostering discourse and deliberation on academic matters and issues within the criminal justice sector.
The Executive Committee is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced academics and researchers who want to represent their university or research institution on the Advisory Board.
Two of the appointments will be for a period of two years, and one for a period of three years.
