As of 1 July 2022, the Department of Finance is supporting the Department of Communities as they lead an innovative 12-month Gender Equality in Procurement - WA Public Sector Pilot.

Thirteen State Government agencies are participating in the pilot, which is designed to raise awareness of the benefits of gender equality in WA workplaces using selected public sector procurement processes.

When WA suppliers apply for selected government tender processes, they are now being asked gender equality questions to determine whether they are supporting a gender equal workplace. Data will be collected on Tenders WA and will help inform the next steps in implementing gender equality.

WA is the second State in Australia to introduce a gender equality clause into selected public sector procurement processes, an initiative of the Second Action Plan under the ‘Stronger Together: WA’s Plan for Gender Equality’ plan.

Finance is passionate about gender equality in the workplace and in broader society and is determined to use the pilot results to bring about greater gender equality in WA.
